Just like humans, dogs need to follow some rules around the house. As house and dog owner, YOU need to set these rules and ensure their enforcement through proper dog training. Dog training proceeds in a different manner, depending on factors like dog breed. Each dog breed has a unique temperament and must be handled uniquely.

For Pitbull owners, here are a few Pitbull training tips that can help you raise a well-mannered dog.

One of the most basic parts of Pitbull training is establishing your role as the leader of the household. The best way to make a dog understand and accept your leadership is to teach him to “say please” everytime he wants something. Here’s how:

Set up a specific feeding schedule. A dog understands that whoever has control over the resources is the boss. Therefore, if you allow your dog to have his food bowl anytime he wants, then he will get the feeling that HE is in control. Rather, offer him food only at the appointed feeding time and give it to him only when he sits and waits for it calmly. If he jumps up to try and get the bowl from you, walk away and simply offer the bowl again at the next feeding schedule. Holding back a reward is a useful tool in Pitbull training, which helps make the dog understand that being rowdy at mealtime holds no rewards.

Give praise when it is earned. Positive reinforcement such as praises and treats is also a very powerful tool in Pitbull training. However, it is important that your dog EARNS these rewards. Otherwise, it will not hold much value. For example, do not praise and cuddle your dog as soon as you get home simply because you missed it while you were at work. Rather, praise the dog if he calmly gets up and greets you at the door, but ignore him if he jumps around and barks excessively at your arrival.

Always be in control of the situation. A dog will always try to test your leadership. This is why consistency is very important in Pitbull training. You should enforce the rules you set at all times, without exception. And you should always be the one who has control over any situation, not your dog. If the dog jumps up into your lap in order to be petted, do not give him what he wants immediately. This will make him think that he can have your attention anytime he wants it. What you should do is stand up in order for the dog to get off of your lap and then give the command for him to sit. Only when he has sat calmly for a few minutes should you start petting him.

The Pitbull training tips discussed above are all based on mutual respect. It is not much of a hassle for you to perform, and it does not employ cruelty to your dog. Instead, it works under the premise that just as you work to earn your keep and follow some general rules in life in order to live peacefully and happily, then your dog will also be much happier once he has learned to follow the basic house rules that you have set.

One of the best ways to help housebreak your puppy is using puppy training pads. Training your puppy is a tough job especially when you want them to use the bathroom. It is easier to train your puppies to potty at the right places with puppy pads. A lot of patience is required to housebreak your puppies. Training your puppy is important since it will teach him discipline and obedience.

The puppy training pads need to be in a place where they can easily be reached. The right place is the corner in the house or near a bathroom door. You should make those puppies realize the exact purpose of those pads. It is best if they are shown what those are pads for.

To train them to use the bathroom is the one of the main reasons for using these pads. Both the pads and the bathroom must be used in a routine developed by you. To get the puppy to go outside, the pads are used as a training tool.

Start moving the pads towards the bathroom door once you have trained the puppies. Be gentle on the puppy even if he makes any mistakes. If he uses his pads, treat him well. If he is found urinating then place him on the pads after you stop him.

These pads are specially scented with chemicals which will help the puppy identify it. If your puppy is found urinating in the wrong place you can use these absorbent puppy pads and remove it with ease instead of using rags and other material.

your puppy will always use these pads once they are trained and you need to think about moving them closer to the bathroom. You should stop using the pads once he is trained and is going to the toilet where you want him to go.

Until your puppy has been totally housebroken these puppy training pads will be very helpful. Don’t expect any immediate results from the training since it is a gradual process and you should keep working towards it without giving up.

Puppies need to relieve themselves more often since they have weak bladders. Make sure where ever the pads are placed, there is no obstacle to it. You can get complete house training for your puppy if you are patient with your training.

Puppy training pads are available in various sizes for small breed puppies through to large breeds. So you should make sure you get the right size for your puppy. They are also available in many different prices. Cheaper puppy pads may not be as good at absorbing as the more expensive ones.

So what have we learned from this article? Puppy training pads are for teaching your puppy where to go to the toilet, that they are available for all sizes of puppies and that they vary in price. You should decide which pads are best suited for your puppy before purchasing them.

If there is one thing that all sensible dog owners agree on is that they have to at least meet the bare minimum requirements for caring of their animals. Unfortunately, the bare minimum requirements are not always understand in the same way by all dog owners. So, I am writing this article with the intent to clear this all up.

I am sure that all dog owners can agree that dogs must be fed and most of them will also agree that some foods are better for their dogs than others. Likewise, most dog owners also agree that dogs need to be allowed to experience walks around the block or the park and that there is a need to play with them and pay them the attention they so often crave. The dispute arises when it comes to training as some owners believe it is utterly unnecessary while other think the opposite, that it is an unquestionable must.

I very passionately vote right along all those dog owners who believe that their dogs should be trained. My passion for training dogs is based on my observations that dog which are trained tend to:

-	Better socialized and therefore also a better member of the family pack as well as being a better neighbor, etc.
-	Better adjusted when it comes to being around other dogs.
-	Happier because he or she is given more variety in their lives.
-	Brighter because training forces them to use their brains with challenges which they would not need to face otherwise.
-	Cuter for doing all kinds of adorable tricks.

In conclusion I will repeat myself – I am very passionate about dog training because I have little to no doubt that a dog which has been properly trained is much better balances, much more social which makes him or her more pleasant to be around, much happier and, lastly, much healthier.

Yes, dogs must be trained, in my humble opinion and such training can come from a variety of sources: professional dog trainers or dog owners who utilize the information gleaned from dog training books and/or videos which can readily be found through online vendors, retail stores or public libraries.

Siberian Huskies can be wonderful dogs to keep, but there are several things you need to keep in mind before you go about choosing and buying one.

Siberian Huskies can be wonderful dogs to keep, but there are several things you need to keep in mind before you go about choosing and buying one.

First of all, this is not your typical dog. Siberian Huskies have a unique temperament, which makes it necessary to train them differently than other dogs. Therefore, if you plan on getting yourself a husky then you will have to learn proper Siberian Husky training techniques.

Usually trained to be sled dogs, huskies are used to being commanded by a confident and strong-willed master. Therefore, you will have to establish your role as “lead dog” early on so that you won’t suffer from obedience issues with your dog during training.

You have to make your dog feel that you are in control of every situation and that you are capable of keeping him out of trouble. This is not to say that you should bully your dog, as that can actually be counterproductive. Siberian Husky training a firm, but loving approach because these dogs are amiable by nature.

Another important reminder is to start training when your dog is still a puppy so that you can establish your leadership as early as possible.

Siberian huskies naturally love the outdoors, so you shouldn’t have any trouble training them to urinate and defecate outside the house. What you may have a bit of a problem with is how to train your dog not to run away from home. One of the things that huskies love to do most is to run free, so you will have to find an effective way to make your dog understand the limits of where he can run. Aside from running away, another danger posed by a husky’s love for running is that he might end up chasing your neighbor’s pet or other animals within the area.

You will have to teach your husky to resist this instinctive desire to run and give chase. Siberian husky training therefore necessitates the use of strong fences to keep your dog within limits. Bring your dog to the fenced area and allow him to run around for at least an hour each day. This should be enough for him to get the necessary exercise and exhaust his excess energy. At the same time, the limited area will teach your dog that there are limits to where he can go.

The good news is that this breed of dogs is very intelligent, a trait that can definitely make Siberian husky training a lot easier. But, as mentioned earlier, a unique set of techniques has to be used in training this type of dog. Here are some tips for a more effective Siberian husky training: *	Always put yourself first. For example, whenever you bring your dog out for his daily exercise, be sure to step through the door first. Do the same when you get back inside the house. You should also eat first before feeding your dog. Whatever you do, do it for yourself first so that your dog understands that YOU come first. *	Always say the dog’s name before issuing a command so that he will know that this is his name. Always be confident in issuing commands so that your dog knows that you are a dependable leader. *	Always make eye contact when admonishing or disciplining your dog so that he understands what he did wrong and why you are punishing him.

These are just some tips to aid you as you begin your Siberian husky training program. You may browse online or consult an expert for more details on training huskies.

The sit command is one of the basic commands that any pet owner should teach his dog. Available to get your pet to sit down on command he will be more mindful of you and much more obedient. Plus, the sit command is the basis for many other commands so starting your training with this command makes good sense.

Dog training to sit is probably among the easiest commands and can help you begin a good training regimen with your pet. Here are a few simple tricks to make this training tiny bit easier:

1.Stand facing your pet and say the word “Sit” inside a firm tone. Of course, at first your dog will most likely do not know what you want him to complete and you may want to give him a clue by performing the action indexed by second step.

2.Take your dog’s favorite treats and stand facing your pet. Contain the treat above his head slightly and move it back towards his rear. This will cause your dog to appear and stick to the treat with his head that will can even make him sit. As he is sitting say the term “Sit”. Then praised him and give him the treat.

3.Sometimes, rather than sitting, the dog will back up and, in case your dog tends to get this done, you need to try 2 with your dog on the area to ensure that he can’t back up since the wall is in the way – that way he will have no choice but to sit.

4.If your dog is just not getting it, you may want to push about the dogs tail, close to the tail, as you issue the command. Your goal is to get the dog to sit by himself while you are issuing the “Sit” command.

It could take a few tries to obtain a number of steps that meet your needs, but after you have figured out ways to get your dog to sit down, you just need to continue doing this number of steps again and again. The concept is to get your dog to associate the term “Sit” with the action of sitting and also to realize that he’ll be rewarded for it. Eventually, you can try the “Sit” command without moving the treat back or pushing on his rear.

As with any training, patience and persistence is essential. Try training your dog at the same time every single day but don’t result in the sessions last too long or your pet can get bored. One other thing remember would be to always the command just as in order that it is clear to your pet what you want him to do.

Training your dog to sit could be a fun task along with a bonding experience – attack it having a positive attitude and you’ll notice that you and your dog look forward to your training sessions every single day!

If you want your pet to be safe then probably the most important things you can do is train him to “Stay”. When your pet masters this command you can be assured that you could keep him inside a safe spot when there is danger around.

Important as it may be, the “Stay” command can be quite a hardship on your pet to learn. Why? Simply because this command mandates that your dog stay put while you maneuver around – this can be difficult as it is inside your pet’s nature to follow you. However, with persistence and perseverance, you are able to both master this command.

Before you begin dog training to stay, you have to make sure he has mastered the “Sit” command as it is part one of the “Stay” command. Don’t confuse your pet by attempting to teach him a lot of commands at the same time, begin with one, then proceed to the next and then the next and so forth.

Having said that, in case your dog has mastered the “Sit” command, here are some steps to follow along with in order to train your pet to “Stay”:

1.Start with your dog within the sitting position. Put your hand up with the palm facing your dog and say “Stay”. Make use of a firm and clear voice for the command. Then have a step backwards.

2.Your dog’s natural tendency will be to follow you so he’ll probably wake up and come to you. You now wish to repeat the “Sit” and “Stay” commands.

3.This is when it may get tricky. Some dogs will “get it” and stay in just a couple tries, but others insist upon getting up and following you. If yours insists on following, there’s a little trick you can try to reinforce the behavior you want. You will have to be near some sort of post or perhaps a tree. Put the dog’s collar along with a long leash on and wrap the leash round the tree while keeping your hands on the end. Since the dog starts to move in your direction, you can pull about the leash which will keep him in place.

4.Once you receive your pet to stay once you have taken a measure, try taking two steps, then three, then four. You will find that the even further away you receive, the less your dog “stays”. Here is where persistence and repetition come into play – just keep using the command while moving further and even further away.

Training your dog to stay can be tough especially because it goes against your dogs nature of following a Alpha dog – you. Remember, its not necessary hitting a house run during the first work out. Do some bit each day and you’ll soon discover that your dog is remaining in position for longer and longer amounts of time.

Whilst there has never been better resources available to undertake Home Dog Training, for some people, only a professional Obedience School for Dogs will do!

Whilst there has never been better resources available to undertake Home Dog Training, for some people, only a professional Obedience School for Dogs will do!

When people think of Obedience Schools for Dogs, they imagine large groups of Pets lining up and obeying on command. The reality is that this is just a tiny part of the services that modern Obedience School for Dogs actually offer. There is behavioral training, Job training – such as Rescue and Guard Dog Training, Show prep and even Breed specific Training packages. Selecting the one that is right for you will depend on your requirements.

The best reason to enrol your pet in an obedience school for dogs is that you are essentially giving him the chance to be trained by professionals who are experts in the field. Furthermore, an obedience school for dogs will not only teach your dogs some new tricks and better manners, but also help you learn some new commands and teach you how to establish your role as pack leader and make your dog understand and accept your dominance.

Thanks to their ever growing popularity, obedience school for Dogs is a growing market and are springing up in more and more places convenient to your Home.

It may be best to have a list of all obedience schools within your area before you actually go out to search for the perfect school for your dog. This way, you can immediately compare and contrast their training program and make sure that you choose an obedience school for dogs which you feel is most likely to treat your dog the way you want it to be treated.

Perform an internet search or ask your friends which obedience school for dogs they use and include all of those establishments in your list. It is best if you could visit each school and see for yourself how they work with the dogs they train.

One of the primary factors to consider before making a final decision is the way that the school-itself trains the Dogs. Depending on the Obedience School For Dogs, they may employ techniques that you are particularly impressed with or turned off by. Some schools for example will use firmer methods and techniques than you may be comfortable with such as the fitting of choke chains.

Lastly, on this point, do take the time to gather testimonials from previous customers of the school, either from the website or a more generic forum search.

This is one of the best ways to put your mind at rest before committing your beloved Pet to enrollment in your chosen Obedience School.

I don’t know anything about you but I’m sure that you want a dog that can sit, heel, and fetch on command. Of course you want the best for your dog, and if you can afford it why not? Unfortunately with the economic climate as it is, it may not be the best thing to splurge on dog schools even for the most beloved of pets. That doesn’t mean you still can’t have a well-trained dog though. Every dog needs to be taught basic canine behavior and with many dog training DVDs available today, a professionally trained pet need not be expensive.

A known dog trainer will usually be the face and producer of a marketable dog training DVD. While anybody can train their own dogs, not everyone who says they are professional is telling the truth. A professional trainer would be one who actually went to an animal school to take the necessary courses for the career path they have chosen. Feel free to Google and search for trainers that have had good reviews and check if they have resources they are selling to the public.

When planning on purchasing a training DVD you need to know first at what level your dog is ready to learn. If he is a puppy or newly adopted, a video that covers the basic obedience commands is what you will need. If you require canine behavior modification, search the internet for well-received and popular specialty dog sites. They will probably have an extensive collection of resources and products. Sort through their DVD titles per topic and select a video best suited for your current needs.

Where are some of the places you can go to for these DVDs? Unfortunately since there are very few, if any, video shops nowadays that offer animal training videos; the addresses you should go to are the ones the search engine lead you to. You can check Amazon.com for leads. Niche websites on canine training will have a page of product offerings that will include training materials you can flip through. There is also the option of buy and sell sites, however these are not reliable sources and should be avoided if you can.

The average price for good dog training videos range from $20-$50; depending on the what is included in the package, if there are additional discs or related literature. Many websites will offer an attractive discount or gifts if you put in your order right away. If you know that the instructional DVD you’re buying will be used often, then purchase it as soon as you can. However, if you are just enticed by the great bargain of it all, don’t swipe that credit card just yet. You may need to buy something more important in the near future.

A well-trained dog is an affordable luxury any pet owner can get. With dog training DVDs, you can have professional trainers teach your dog right in your living room for a fraction of the cost. Fido may not be trotting the grounds of any prestigious dog academy anytime soon — but thanks to the internet, the dog academy can now go to him.

Mention dog training and most people think of a young puppy being shown the fundamental commands. In fact, you might have heard that it’s difficult to train an older dog. Thankfully, for most people who have adopted a mature dog, this is not true and, in fact, you are able to teach an old dog new tricks!

Dogs learn new things every day, so teaching a mature dog doesn’t need to be ay more difficult than teaching a pup. It depends upon your dog, the improper habits he has acquired and his attitude toward learning.

One thing to remember is that an older dog may have some issues with sight and hearing that require to be considered when training. Make sure you speak your commands loudly and that the dog can see you signals. If you’re far away from your dog and call him up and he doesn’t come, it could be while he can’t hear you and not necessarily while he isn’t obeying the command.

Additionally, older dogs might possibly not have the same amount of energy as a puppy so you might like to make services less strenuous and for shorter cycles. It depends on age the dog, obviously. A senior dog will have less stamina than one that’s three or four years of age.

Adopting a mature dog could be rewarding, but he may attend some bad habits which could be a challenge to interrupt him of. Don’t give up your older dog, though as possible done. You have to keep in mind that a few of these bad behaviors have been ingrained in your pet for many years and it could take some special persistence to correct them.

Something that can really help your pet be as alert and open to training as you possibly can is to ensure he gets the proper nutrition. Make sure to feed him a good commercial food or prepare homemade foods for him. Either way, you want to ensure the most of his diet originates from meat. Make sure you buy a quality food that lists meat as the first ingredient and has no “by products” about the label.

Training a mature dog could be a little more of a challenge but it can also be very rewarding. Remember, your pet is a pack animal and by proper training you are able to become established since the alpha dog inside your little pack. Dog training properly helps him to become well behaved along with a pleasure to be with.

Dealing With Dog Aggression

Dealing With Dog Aggression

There is absolutely no doubt that Dog Aggression is an extremely worrying problem for thousands of Dog owners across the world.

The Facets Of Dog Aggression

Its important to differentiate between Dog on Dog aggression a and specific aggression towards people. Both are triggered for different reasons and with varying underlying rationale.

*Aggression Based On Fear: Once a Dog experiences an overwhelmingly traumatic experience, they can often react with aggressive behavior if ever put in a similar situation again. For example, if a Dog has been bitten by another Dog, they may become nervous around others and react with barking, chasing or other aggressive displays such as snarling or even biting.

*Dominance Based Aggression: This form of Dog aggression is centered on both people and other Dogs. It comes about when your Dog is attempting to be considered as the alpha leader. If your Dog is displaying aggressive behavior towards the owner when given instruction this is a sign that Dog Training is needed in order to re-establish yourself as the ‘alpha pack leader.’

What To Do If Your Dog Has Recently Become Aggressive

If your Dog has a history of friendliness towards strangers and family and has only recently begun to change its behavior. Efforts must be made to examine recent circumstances leading up to this change of attitude. Sometimes bad behavior can be a physical symptom of an emotional problem. Other times the reasons are medical based.

Emotion Based Dog Aggression

By ‘emotional reasons’ this is relating to any significant change of circumstance that may have considerably effected or upset your Dog. The classic example is when a new baby arrives in the family. Suddenly the Dog is no longer the centre of attention they once were and responds accordingly. As Pack animals Dogs may also presume that their importance in the Pack (the family) has suddenly diminished, so in order to regain your attention they may potentially display signs aggression is a misguided attempt to fall back into favour with you. In situations like these a combination of Home based retraining for the Dog and reward based incentives are effective to curb aggression.

Medical Illness Leading To Aggression

There are more than 50 Dog related illnesses and medical conditions which can appear as outward symptoms of aggressive behavior towards humans or other Dogs. You are no Doctor! So if your Dog has become aggressive and you really cant understand why, your first port of call should be to take them directly to a Vet for a professional opinion.
