You go to the pet shop and you fall madly in love with that large wrinkly face and the next thing you know, you’re the proud owner of a new Pug puppy. Something you need to know, particularly in those early days, is that the moment you bring that young dog home, you are training them in the right way to act in the future. With pug training, it is imperative to be disciplined from the very start of your days as a Pug owner.

When you look at how much a child learns in the first few years of their life, it far outweighs the amount of things they learn in the second years. A pug puppy is the same way, the first few months of their life are similar to the initial few years of a child’s life and anything they learn now is going to be inserted in their mind as something that they are allowed to do.

If your Pug puppy jumps up on the coach, will you discipline him and tell him to get down or are you going to pet his cute little head and let him know how adorable he is. Now consider what happens when he is a full grown dog and he does that, you are probably going to be upset and scream at him. Well don’t yell at the dog, go find a mirror and yell at yourself because you’re the one that promoted that behavior when he was a puppy.

We frequently find humor in the things that both children and dogs do when they are puppies and babies and then we receive upset when they do similar things a few years later. It isn’t their fault, you permitted this behavior and now you’re going to be forced to sort it. Knowing when to correct behavior is a sizeable part of pug training

When your Pug puppy dog grabs your shoes and starts gnawing on them, ask yourself one small question , am I going to find that funny in seven years when he is still doing it? If you are like most of the people, the answer to that question is going to be a sound NO so address it now and you will not have to fret about it in the future as the dog will know it is not allowable.

It’s a tiny tough to coach your Pug puppy from day one, but you have to resist the booby trap of falling for that captivating face. They are animals and they need to be trained. The will only do what you permit them to do or get away with so take care you get the right behavior instilled from day one and you will have a great pet!
