Dog Agility Training

Training your dog to be agile, can be quite a challenge but most dogs love it. They love being off the leash and running to chase and catch things.

Dogs are naturally agile and able to jump high to catch things and able to make quick turns and stop quickly.

Before even training your dog for agile sports training, you will want to make sure that your dog listens to your commands and comes back to you when called. You may want to take your dog to obedience class so that you have the basic training under your belt before training him other things. One thing to keep your dog safe is that he listens to you and comes back when you call him. If your dog doesn’t listen to this basic command We wouldn’t recommend that you allow them off a leash till they do learn it.

Once you have the basics skills taught to your dog, you can then move on.

To begin with training your dog you will want him to follow your commands. If you are teaching them to run an obstacle course talk them through each part showing them what they are suppose to do at each part of the course.

At the tire hoops, run up to the tires and have them come and run and jump through the tires.

At the poles you may have to run that part of the course yourself so that he understands which way he is suppose to go.

Your dog has to be physically fit to do the course, you must take them to the vets often, and that he eats right. He will be using more calories than a dog that isn’t as active so you will have to adjust his diet to be part of this.

Training a dog will take time but the results will be amazing . You and your dog will have a ton of fun.

If you are training your dog to go to the beach or the park to catch frisbees this will be easier for you. Dogs love to fetch and catch things.
